CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Dec. 6, 2019 - PRLog -- Serving on the HOA board is a challenging yet rewarding job. There are many moving pieces, and no two days are ever the same. It's not a job for everyone, but those who do tackle this responsibility should take their position seriously. In a new statement to the press, Kuester Management Group shares ways HOA board members can strive to improve their performance in the coming year.

"If board members want to do a better job of leading and managing their community, they should keep an open mind," says Bryan Kuester, President of Kuester Management Group. "Be willing to hear different ideas even if they don't match your own. There is often more than one solution, so it's a matter of figuring out what is in the best interest of your association."

Board members should also be open to asking for help, says Kuester. No one is expected to have all of the answers on their own. The board functions as a team, so work together and make sure everyone understands the governing documents. Don't be afraid to turn to the property manager for support or insight; that's what they're there for.

"Another way to be proactive is to talk to your property manager about different educational opportunities and training sessions that may be beneficial for board members," explains Kuester. "Stay abreast of the latest regulations and best practices. Always be striving to enhance your knowledge and skills."

Staying active in the community is also important. Get out in front of homeowners so they can put a face with a name. Attend every meeting and event possible to build connections and positive relationships. Let homeowners know that they are important and their opinions matter.

By taking steps to be a better board member, individuals can play an integral role in ensuring their HOA works as efficiently and effectively as possible to protect the best interest of members and their properties. Kuester is proud to partner with HOAs across the Carolinas to support their unique needs.
