From the Office of Economic Analysis, Josh Lehner has assessed that new construction has increased available inventory in the rest of the state while in Portland it has started to slow down.Constant immigration into the state from our neighbors, trying to catch onto expanding economic opportunities, has also started to slow down. With increased inventory and reduced influx of new households we should expect to see markets start to stabilize in many of the other major cities; Salem, Eugene, etc.
As he stated, "A bit more growth in new construction, when coupled with a slowing population outlook, should result in a somewhat better balance in the housing market."
