SOUTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. - Dec. 1, 2019 - PRLog -- The image is not unusual. You are purchasing a home, you have a home inspection and A Oil tank sweep. No Oil tanks are found by the inspections. You happen speak with a neighbor that asks you about the heating Oil tank under the addition. What do you do ? The first you do is contact Environmental Systems to perform a crawl space inspection with  Ground Penetrating Radar . Then it would also be prudent to have soil and ground water testing performed around the perimeter of the building addition to rule out soil and ground water contamination. The municipal construction department may have tank removal records. Many times heating oil tanks were covered over or not properly decommissioned .
This means there could still be  contamination under the addition requiring remediation that could cost over $ 100,000. Environmental Systems recommends use of Ground Penetrating Radar along soil boring prior purchase to rule out any environmental issues. to receive additional information regarding Environmental Home Testing call 732-892-8707 or visit our website at www.allenvirosystem.com.
