Canadian company encourages people to disconnect in order to connect this holiday season

Toronto-based mompreneurs release products to combat loneliness

TORONTO - Nov. 21, 2019 - PRLog -- Just in time for the holidays, a Toronto-based business is launching the first of several products to combat the isolation of a digital world and build connections among people.

The Canadian Pediatric Society says children should have less than an hour of screen time per day. Yet 87 percent of Canadian kids spend more than that staring at a screen. Statistics among various other age groups in Canada have found that isolation and loneliness are becoming serious problems. Over half of people in the United States of America have admitted to feeling disconnected, lonely or isolated. Moreover, Statistics Canada notes the number of people living alone has risen to 28 percent of households.

"In our digitally-connected world, we want to encourage people to disconnect from digital in order to have deeper human connections and relationships," co-founder of Sprout Works Connection, Johana Schwartzman said. "We want to encourage people to enjoy spending more time with their friends and family. We think that doing hobbies together is a great way to do that."

Sprout Works Connection is encouraging people to get back to the basics with their first line of products, a super soft clay kit. Using a range of colours, kids, parents, grandparents and friends can be artistic and connect over clay.

Canadian parents have been raving about the soft clay kit, calling it innovative, a mess-free way for kids and adults to have fun without turning on a screen. Unlike traditional clay kits, the super-soft clay is easily moldable and air dries. The kit also comes with carving tools to help you get creative and add detail to your creations.

The company has been built on the belief that forming connections across the generations, everyone - from children to seniors - will benefit. The advantages include enhanced emotional, social and cognitive ability for all.

"Our plan is to share innovative and meaningful products, reflecting a diverse range of hobbies, pursuits, and passions, and our goal is to foster deeper human connections among friends and families," explained co-founder Jennifer Ha.

In the coming months, they will be introducing more high-quality products designed to nurture family relationships through the creation of experiential moments centered on arts and crafts.
