LOS ANGELES - Nov. 20, 2019 - PRLog -- The evidence seems to suggest that today's youngsters are smartening up when it comes to spending money on their post-secondary education. Popular social media apps like TikTok allow people to share their ideas with the world and some trends have been developing. Many high school students and college students are sharing their insights on the cost of education vs the return. And the "traditional 4-year college" is taking a beating.

"Shortly after joining TikTok I randomly made a short video about how one of my friends decided to go to a trade school and become an electrician, while the rest of us went to our "traditional 4-year schools". I explained how our electrician friend was able to get a job quickly, save money, and start his own business by the time we all graduated our 4-year schools. It took the rest of us 5 more years to catch up to his starting salary. The video exploded and got over 600,000 views in just a couple of days!" said Quintin Ford, founder of Houredu.com

Ford also mentioned that the comments on his video were eye-opening. Many youngsters seemed to hate the idea of going into debt for a "traditional education." And trade school graduates were boasting high salaries and advising others to attend trade school as well. Many of the other comments were from high school kids saying things like "I wish my parents would let me go to trade school" or "I need to show this to my parents, college isn't the only way!"

Additionally, Ford said, "The only videos that do well for me now are videos about Trade School. And that's been a huge motivation for us to produce more informative content around trade school at Houredu.com (https://www.houredu.com). I think more kids need to understand that "college" isn't the only post-secondary option. Our tagline has become "College options you never knew existed" to help encourage people to seek alternative forms of education that might better fit their needs."

But it's not only the TikTok gang that's starting to revolt against the high cost and low return on college. Many millennials are switching their careers through trade schools and skill-specific education like coding schools. Millennials seem to feel ripped off by their education and forced to go back to school for the hopes of making any real money.

"With all of the data we analyze at Houredu.com we continue to see far more interest in alternative education vs "college." - Quintin Ford
