UNESCO'S World heritage week is being celebrated between November 19, 2019, and November 25, 2019. The main aim of this week is to create awareness about the importance of prestigious monuments and the need for preservation among the people and also to encourage youth to participate in the preservation of the ancient monuments and sites.
Entry tickets to visit these prestigious monuments located around 50 kilometers from Chennai in the southern coastal area have been cancelled for a week. The monuments include Krishna's Butterball, Five Rathas, and Shore Temple. There is no need to take tickets for visiting these prestigious monuments on Tuesday. According to the senior conservation assistant of ASI's Mamallapuram sub-circle, T Saravanan said, around 5,000 visitors are expected on Tuesday and jointly with the state archaeology department, We are also organizing a photo exhibition on 'Monuments of Tamil Nadu'.
About 120 pictures on various monuments spread across the state and conservation works of ASI would be displayed at Mamallapuram on the occasion, he added.
