Open Studios Day on Saturday, December 7th 2019 Angels Gate Cultural Center
Open Studios Days is a free family event that provides the public a glimpse into the process, art, and lives of local artists who create at Angels Gate Cultural Center (AGCC). AGCC hosts one of the largest studio artist programs in the region with a diverse range of artistic disciplines including ceramics, photography, printmaking, writing, sculpture, videography, music, dance and painting. This self-guided tour of artists studios provides a unique opportunity to converse with artists, see what's happening in contemporary art, and purchase original works directly from the artists.
Demonstrations & Workshops by AGCC community classes will take place throughout the day – including live printmaking demonstrations and dance performances by the Excel Dance and Performing Arts and Polynesian Hula classes, among others. All ages are welcome in building G for a free art workshop. Angels Gate Cultural Center hosts a variety of classes for the community including drawing, painting, ceramics, printmaking, dance, yoga, meditation, vocal instruction, and Japanese archery.
Local Notions, a juried exhibition of San Pedro artists, will be open during Open Studios Day. The exhibition highlights local artists with 60 original works of art in a vast range of mediums. Local Notions is free and open to the public in the AGCC main gallery. Studio Artist Stuart Hamilton will be showing new works of art in the Studio Sessions gallery space, in conjunction with Local Notions. Exhibited artworks can be purchased supporting both the artists and the Cultural Center.
AGCC invites the community to Open Studios Day for a free, family-friendly event to tour artist studios, engage with live demonstrations and performances, view contemporary art, and support local artists by purchasing original works of art.
