Weapons of Healing, Free Therapy for Those Affected By Gun Violence

Fed Up Movement providing free therapy to heal those overcoming gun violence in Pompano Beach

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. - Nov. 15, 2019 - PRLog -- As the holidays approach, people often remember their loved ones who are no longer with them. Gun violence is a significant problem in our community and many families experience depression due to this urban epidemic.

A+ Editing & Content Creation together with Fed Up Movement, will offer free therapy for those who have lost loved ones to gun violence on Dec. 11, 2019, at the Northwest Branch Library in Pompano Beach, FL from 6 to 7:45 p.m.

"The holidays are often the most difficult times for those who have lost family members and friends," said Attiya Atkins, founder of Fed Up Movement and A+ Editing & Content Creation. "Losing someone to gun violence is incredibly difficult to cope with, especially during occasions known for bringing families together."

Joining Fed Up Movement is therapist Mark Lang. With 31 years of experience as a psychotherapist, Lang knows the importance of healing through therapy and leads a support group for those impacted by gun violence.

The free therapy aims to bring those who have lost loved ones together for support. Part of the therapy will include creative writing. Writing therapy is a proven technique that uses the act of writing to ease emotional trauma.

"It's often difficult for people to express their feelings verbally, but writing allows every one of us to let go of feelings through expressive writing," said Atkins.

Feb Up Movement works within the community to help the urban poor reach success through mentorship and civic participation. Not only that, the organization brings the community together to support one another and promote stronger community ties.
