CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Nov. 14, 2019 - PRLog -- Michelle Keaton-Barrow, CEO of Keaton Barrow Realty, is thrilled to be hosting the Annual Soirée for EmpowHERment, Inc., a Charlotte-based not-for-profit dedicated to empowering young women. The reception on Sunday, November 17, kicks off EmpowHERment's annual fund development campaign for its leadership academy that empowers adolescent girls to become tomorrow's leaders.

The Soirée from 2 to 4 p.m. at Brewers celebrates the accomplishments of the young women in EmpowHERment's leadership academy. The event seeks to raise funds to support the incoming class of ninth grade mentees as they go through the four-year program. The funds enable the organization to provide a collaborative, one-on-one, 12-month mentoring program that empowers girls to define, develop and defend their voices as community service leaders. The funds also will help the mentees take a service trip across the Carolinas community.

"One of the biggest things we're working on is addressing the narrative," explains EmpowHERment  founder Carrie B. Cook. "North Carolina is one of the lowest states in the country in terms of overall wealth, health and confidence for these girls."

"It has been such a pleasure to see these young women grow and emerge as strong leaders," agrees Keaton-Barrow, who has gained a reputation as both a philanthropist and entrepreneur. "Mentoring tomorrow's leaders and assisting an organization designed to empower them is a privilege that I want other successful women to experience firsthand."

That's exactly why EmpowHERment  was created. The group was incorporated in 2012 and since has partnered with organizations like Keaton Barrow Realty to broaden their reach.

With more than 30 years experience in commercial and residential real estate, Keaton-Barrow has developed a reputation as an experienced businesswoman and a trusted expert whose knowledge of market trends, neighborhood statistics, and insurance  is unmatched. She honed her leadership skills as a college professor, business owner and board member. Her passion for philanthropy is demonstrated by the numerous non-profit and charitable entities that she supports, including serving as a mentor for SCORE, a member of the Charlotte Business and Inclusion Advisory Committee, and service on the board for the United Minority Contractors of North Carolina, the Charlotte Mecklenburg Black Chamber of Commerce, Wake County Community Foundation, PAVE Charter School, and the Women's Impact Fund of Charlotte.
