$2,500 Check Giveaway for Beaverton High School's Club Hope Program

PORTLAND, Ore. - Nov. 13, 2019 - PRLog -- The Northwest Honda Dealers Association's (NWHDA) has a long-term commitment to supporting local schools and families, and to building bridges in our community. And as part of its dedication, the NW Honda Dealers family will be awarding another $2,500 to a local school of their choice.

Beaverton Honda has chosen to support Club Hope, a fairly new club at Beaverton High School that started in the fall of 2017. It is a student-run program to raise awareness and help with homeless issues in Beaverton. Club Hope's mission is to support students experiencing homelessness through advocacy, awareness, assistance, and outreach. At this time last year, there were approximately 400 homeless students. This year there are more than 1,100 homeless students, a shocking 275% increase.

"Whether they live in cars, small apartments with multiple other families, or are staying on someone's couch, Club Hope helps provide basic necessities for these students to succeed," said Principal Anne Erwin. "Unfortunately, the number of homeless students is growing each week, which makes this contribution from the Northwest Honda Dealers all the more important. It will enable Club Hope to restock its 'Beaver Den' and fill even more 'Hope Baskets.'" The Beaver Den is the school's food pantry, school supply, toiletry, and clothes closet available for students and families in need, while Hope Baskets are filled with necessary items and gifts to be distributed to students experiencing homelessness at Beaverton High School.

Tim Nelson, general manager of Beaverton Honda, will be presenting the $2,500 check to Principal Anne Erwin on Monday, November 18, at 2:30 p.m. at Beaverton High School.
