"When I saw most local writers had no web presence, no business cards, no experience in promoting their books, I decided to fill that need," Howard said.

Since its launch, over 22 authors have joined The Writers Mall.Com along with professional service providers who can help develop self-published books such as copyeditors, book cover designers, and illustrators.

"The Writers Mall.Com developed from an idea to promote original books written by outstanding individuals who have experienced incredible lives. They have powerful stories to tell," she added. "Connecting them with an audience is the next step. These books need to be found. That's what you do at a mall, you shop around."

Promotion is something she's learned over the course of her 35-year professional career in public relations and marketing. She's also tried to retire several times but hasn't been able to put her energy to rest.

"Additionally, we're developing a social media presence and a YouTube channel for interviewing authors about their books," Howard said. "It's all needed for exposure in today's marketplace."

TheWritersMall.Com website offers author memberships on various levels as well as professional service listings for those who can assist in self-publishing books.

The Professional Services section was added when Howard kept being asked where writers could find help in editing, book design and uploading books to Amazon.com the largest distributor of books in the world.
