TRING, U.K. - Nov. 14, 2019 - PRLog -- Tring-based magazine owner has joined the war against plastic; Alison Page, owner of Berkhamsted and Tring Living Magazines, has listened to reader feedback and made the move to compostable wrappers, despite the extra costs involved.

The local lifestyle magazines are delivered to 21,660* houses throughout the Hertfordshire towns of Tring and Berkhamsted and are also available for local pick-up. They are shrink wrapped to contain inserts and leaflets from advertisers.

The new wrappers replace the original polythene ones which were only recyclable at larger stores. These new ones are made from compostable potato starch and can be added to a compost heap, disposed of in a garden waste bin, or used to line a compost caddy.

Owner of Living Magazines Alison Page says: "The move was always part of our plan, but in response to calls from our readers, we have brought forward the change to compostable wrappers, and are absorbing the extra costs into the business.''

The new eco-friendly wrap will be used for the winter issue of the magazine, due for delivery in the week beginning 18 November.

When Alison purchased the magazines in 2018, she also switched the magazine print to FSC-approved paper, which means it's been harvested in a responsible way.

Alison added: "I'm as conscious as the next person about plastic pollution and climate change, and Living Magazines are not produced by some big, faceless conglomerate, nor have they ever been.

"We are just local people who are passionate about the areas that we live in and have a desire to help our local communities thrive and to support local businesses to ensure sustainable and viable high streets into the future. We would like to do this positively and we always appreciate feedback from our readers to help us do this.''
