Follow on Google News | A Safe and "Spook-tacular" Halloween Movie Night Held in Downtown ClearwaterBy: Church of Scientology Flag Service Organization The event was attended by almost 700 families from across the Tampa Bay area including St Petersburg, Tampa and Clearwater residents. Local charities were hosted in decorated booths to showcase their program with parents while youngsters enjoyed the many activities available at the park. "I had fun, it was quite an experience!" said Keith Wilkins, founder of the Seaside Seabird Sanctuary, a charity aiming at rehabilitating injured birds. "The kids loved the owls we brought along and that got the sanctuary good exposure. We run on donations so doing events like this one is really good for us." Joining the party were the humanitarian centers located on Fort Harrison Avenue, with programs on criminal rehabilitation, Human Rights education and drug prevention. All in a row, the centers were the perfect safe trick-or-treating spot with thousands of candies distributed that night. Each center was decorated to create a unique Halloweentown village. The highlight of the night was the costume contest where kids and adults competed in different categories for the funniest, scariest and best costumes. All participants received a prize for their creativity. "Halloween can easily be turned into a scary celebration" In closing a feature film was shown in the park while kids and their parents and grandparents enjoyed the fruits of their trick or treating and enjoying some family time.
