Family Secrets Unraveled in The House on Camp Ruby Road

Deep in the woods of Texas–the Big Thicket holds a mystery for an outsider

WATERFORD, Mich. - Nov. 6, 2019 - PRLog -- Twyla Ellis explores the Texas woods in her debuting novel, The House on Camp Ruby Road– now available in paperback form by Zimbell House publishing.

Inheriting an old southern homestead in the deep woods of East Texas sounds like it could change someone's life. Eden Devereaux has a situation. After the death of her mother, she's left a house on the other side of the state–The Big Thicket of East Texas. No one seems to know why or by whom. The records have been sealed. When Eden shows up to investigate, she finds her inheritance is occupied by an elderly woman full of secrets that she's unwilling to share. The local townsfolk are curious and the river bottom people see her as an outsider and a threat. Then there are ghosts. Handsome J.D. Callahan is swept up in the mystery and finds himself an unwitting protector of Eden's and it's messing with his plans for a quiet life. The further Eden and J.D. investigate; the more mystery they find. When lives are put in jeopardy and blood feuds are called, will Eden stay and claim what's hers? Or will the ghosts of the past keep their secrets?

Twyla Ellis grew up roaming the dense pine forests in the Big Thicket in Livingston, Texas at the homes of her grandmother and great-aunts and uncles. Her family was one of the founding families of Livingston and her great-great-grandfather was the first city treasurer back in the eighteen-hundreds.
