MIAMI - Nov. 4, 2019 - PRLog -- On Wednesday, November 13th, the Sheckler Foundation will make it's 9th stop in Miami where XGames Champion Ryan Sheckler and some of his friends will present the Surf Skate Science Homeschool Co-op with a grant to bring their program to kids round South Florida. Pro skateboarders Ryan Sheckler, Chaz Otiz, Fabrizio Santos, David Reyes, and Oscar Lorento Jr. will be joining a group of students at North Trail park to learn more about their class, see their projects, and skate with the students.

These students have been learning engineering, physics, design and architecture this semester as they have worked to build their dream skateparks. With the help of community partners like Skate Free Florida and Apple, these students saw the construction of a skatepark first hand then worked to design their projects on Apple iPads with ProCeate before building real-life architectural models.

These students will go on to learn the environmental science and material science involved in skateboarding during the next term where they each will create their own custom skateboard deck with local wood-workers and artists. By combining science, technology, engineering, art, math and action sports, students are getting an educational experience that keeps them engaged ad active.

Surf Skate Science hopes this grant will enable them to bring this program to students and families throughout South Florida. They plan to purchase a small school bus that will be converted into a mobile science lab so that they can share Surf Skate Science at local schools, parks ad events. They are launching a kickstarter on November 11th to raise the rest of the funding needed for their mobile science lab.

In the future Surf Skate Science founders Uli & Toni Frallicciardi hope to reproduce the curriculum to be used around the world and want to establish a STEAM based youth facility in the South Florida area that combines their love of action sports, music and art.

Sheckler Foundation is proud to bring their Skate for Change Tour to South Florida during their tenth anniversary. Surf Skate Science is one of 10 recipients of the Skate for Change grant in the United States.
