Follow on Google News | Broward County School District Hit With A $150,000 Jury Award For National Origin DiscriminationBy: Mark J. Berkowitz Mr. Ortiz began his employment with the Broward County School District in 2000, as an Auto Truck Mechanic, in the Vehicle Maintenance Division, and he claimed that from on or about 2009 and continuing to September of 2014, he was subjected to harassment and discrimination, based upon his national origin. According to the employee, the pervasive harassment by supervisory personnel continued, even though the employee made management aware of the discrimination and harassment, through his oral complaints to School District management. On September 14, 2014, the employee filed a formal complaint of employment discrimination with the Miami District Office of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
