Oct. 30, 2019 - PRLog -- Medical care can be dangerous. Medical error is the third-leading cause of preventable death in the US.

Even without any serious clinical mistakes, there are many risks: hospital-acquired infections, falls, medication errors, poor communication between patients and staff, and much more.

Is there anything you can do? Yes! Families and friends, serving as advocates for patients, can contribute in a big way to better outcomes from care.

But, you may ask, how do I do that? Where do I start?

Start by taking Pulse Center for Patient Safety Education & Advocacy's 8-hour training course, Family-Centered Patient Advocacy Training. The next class takes place over two days — Nov. 9 and Nov. 16, 2019 — from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. It will be held at the Alzheimer's Disease Resource Center, 45 Park Ave., Bay Shore, LI NY 11706. Cost is $75 for the two sessions.

No clinical training - medical professionals, social workers, caregivers, new mothers, members of a religious community - everyone is welcome!

Act fast! Registration closes Friday Nov. 1!
