-- Dr. Deborah Tannen, #1 New York Times bestselling author and Georgetown University Professor of Linguistics, will deliver the keynote at "Empowered Women, Empower Men & Women" on Dec. 5 at The Merchants Exchange Club in San Francisco. At the all-day event, Tannen is complemented by 14 other high-powered women delivering observations from an array of businesses and industries, including law, technology and the public sector, and aimed at encouraging, motivating and empowering professional women.

The "Empowered Women" event takes place from 8:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. PT and light breakfast, lunch, and cocktails/refreshments are included in the $250 ticket price. Sponsorships are also available. Often credited with bringing gender differences in communication style to the forefront of public awareness, Tannen (http://www.deborahtannen.com/
) has authored many books and articles about how the language of everyday conversation affects relationships. She is best known as the author of You Just Don't Understand: Women and Men in Conversation, which was on the New York Times bestseller list for nearly four years, including eight months as No. 1.
