One Club Miami's "Creatives At The Beach" Event Is All Good Vibes, Nothing ToxicBy: One Club For Creativity Nine teams of students and industry professionals competed to create the best viral campaign about combatting a real environmental issue in South Florida - toxic raw sewage leaks into our waterways. This and several other initiatives are taken up by the Miami chapter of the Surfrider Foundation who were delighted with the success of the event. The final campaigns, done in such a short period of time, were described by the judges as, "incredible" The winning student team, #theuncomfortabletruth, by University of Miami students Joelle Dunkley and Matt Karas created a challenge about going for a dip at the beach...but with your socks on! Who likes wet socks, but also, who like sewage in their water? A clear, replicable message for viewers to share themselves. The winning professional team by Publicis Sapient members Alain Katsman, Uri Weiss, Andrea Giraldo, and Michael Shaheen created the campaign #FecalMatters. They were clever in their marketing strategy by using the 'AirDrop' function to bring immediate awareness to those at the beach setting by 'Air Dumping' messages about the importance of ocean water cleanliness and sharing the results as engaging Instagram stories. The event featured the hashtag #CreativeBeachMia which was used by our teams and generous sponsors who kept the party going. This included Afrohead Rums, The Tank Brewing Co., Inn and Out Shoots, Makinosky Productions, Pinch Kitchen, DJ Henry Chinea, and Miami Ad School. The venue was provided by FIU Miami Beach Urban Studios. The judges were a motley crew of creative genius including Soham Chatterjee, Shiran Teitelbaum, Michael Sotelo, Jason Musante, and Surfrider Chair, Seth Bloomgarden. Also, special thanks for artist Rafael Vera's creation of the awards given and One Club chapter manager, Justin Epstein for joining. A highlight of the night was a moment of high praise from the judges to all the contestants for using their Saturday to help change the world. Applause rang out and left the One Club Miami organizers invigorated for the next event in February 2020.
