ARLINGTON, Va. - Oct. 23, 2019 - PRLog -- Arlington tech executive and entrepreneur Jagdish "Jay" Katyal has been elected to serve as board chair of Virginia's Private Security Services Advisory Board. The PSSAB advises the Criminal Justice Services Board of Virginia on a wide range of issues related to the regulation of the private security industry.

Jagdish, an expert in IT and electronic security services, is the CEO and founder of JagKumar, an IT and electronic security company based in Arlington. He was invited to join the fifteen-member board as the electronic security business representative in 2016. He served as a member and then was elected board secretary before being asked to assume the position of board chair.

A 20-year veteran of the tech industry and long-time resident of Arlington, Jagdish stresses the importance of giving back. "Members of the PSSAB provide advice and recommendations to the Criminal Justice Services Board, which includes key members of the Virginia legislature. PSSAB members are experienced businesspeople from all types of private security firms: electronic security, personal protection, bail bondsmen, bail enforcement agents, and more," said Jagdish. "It's our responsibility to make sure that certification and code enforcement is structured in a way that serves the best interests of our community and our businesses."

Jagdish's goal is to ensure that Virginia continues to be recognized as a leader in the U.S. security sector. In September, he was appointed by Governor Ralph Northam to serve on Virginia's Criminal Justice Services Board as a representative of the private security sector. In this role, he works closely with a broad group of stakeholders in the criminal justice field: law enforcement, the judiciary, legislators, and executives of Virginia-based nonprofits and businesses. The CJSB consults directly with members of the legislature and helps determine the possible ramifications of proposed changes to laws. It is also the approving authority for regulations proposed by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services and approves most of the grants awarded by the department to localities, government agencies, and nonprofits.
