HOUSTON - Oct. 22, 2019 - PRLog -- After an extensive executive search process, The Energy Corridor District's Board of Directors has selected Elijah J. Williams as its Executive Director.

Williams will lead The Energy Corridor District's efforts to shape initiatives in the areas of transportation and mobility, public amenities, infrastructure, public safety, urban design and business development in one of the Houston region's most important business centers.

"We are excited to have Elijah on board leading the team; he brings a wealth of diverse and unique experiences to the District and is an immensely talented and capable leader," states David Hightower, Board President. "These positions are somewhat unique and require the right individual with diverse skills. Our search committee was very deliberate in its process. Elijah is the right person to guide the District and nurture important relationships, as we continue to make the Energy Corridor a premier destination and business hub."

Considered one of the nation's foremost employment centers, The Energy Corridor is home to the headquarters and regional offices of prominent global energy and energy services firms, among others.

"The Energy Corridor District is a unique, but critical destination in Houston," explains Williams. "I am excited about the opportunity to advocate on behalf of the District's property owners and residents, while working to improve livability and mobility in the area. I look forward to working with the Board of Directors and other stakeholders to be a responsive, agile and proactive organization that represents the needs and interests of our constituents."

The District has an ambitious vision for The Energy Corridor as a special place to live, work, play and invest within the City of Houston and Harris County. These initiatives include complete streets and networks, increasing mobility options, advocating for improved storm water management, stimulating business development, and developing and promoting parks and trails.

With its exceptional location in the Houston metro region, the District has a large and growing critical mass of existing highly educated office workers and residents. The Energy Corridor features more than 26 million square feet of office space (of which 79% is Class A) and 3 million-plus square feet of retail. It's also adjacent to some of the region's great natural assets – including Buffalo Bayou and 26,000 acres of parks and open space.
