Follow on Google News | Address Human Bone Fragments Discovered at Alamo SiteBy: Tap Pilam Coahuiltecan Nation What: Address Human Bone Fragments Discovered at Alamo Site Where: SouthEast Corner of the United States Postal Service, 615 E. Houston, Downtown San Antonio When: October 14, 2019 at 10 AM Why: The Tap Pilam Coahuiltecan Nation will provide an update on the Alamo Project which includes the marginalization of the history of our different cultures associated with the Alamo, the Cemetery and Alamo 1006. • Address human remains found at the Alamo site • A comprehensive delineation and archeological study at the Alamo Plaza site. • A seat at the table with project developers of the major renovations, dubbed the Alamo Redevelopment Master Plan Project and scheduled for completion in 2024. Official Statement When you dig in a cemetery, expect to find human bones. Who were they? If Douglas McDonald, GLO and the Alamo Trust Inc. have their way we will never know. Maybe they were members of the Carvajal, Villarreal, Castro, Trevino, Hernandez, Perez, Blanco, Rincon, Maldonado families but they don't want us to know. The release of the statement by the Alamo Mission Archaeology Advisory Committee is very suspect. On September 26, 2019 members of Tap Pilam Coahuiltecan Nation sent an Open Records Request to the Texas Historical Commission requesting any documents from the Alamo Project regarding the finding of any Human Remains. Texas GLO and Alamo Inc had until end of business yesterday to provide us with the documents which never arrived. Even though we had received an email on Wednesday saying they would have them to us by the October 10th. We don't believe that Douglas McDonald, Alamo Trust Inc. or the GLO's, Alamo Mission Archaeology Advisory Committee had any intention to release any information about the Human remains that were found. The Open records Request which arrived at 2:00 pm today clearly indicate that these remains were found in mid-August. This is why we are seeking relief from the Federal Courts and asking for the City of San Antonio to protect this Cemetery. We are now having conversation about additional court action and we continue to ask the City to show leadership in this $450 million dollar project and protect our heritage as a City.
