iamlocal.io - A local startup has built an 'Amazon-like' online shop for Bay Area retail stores

OAKLAND, Calif. - Oct. 10, 2019 - PRLog -- Two passionate local entrepreneurs with backgrounds in independent retail business and enterprise-level retail technologies have collaborated to build a technology to provide consumers a one-stop 'shop local' online platform called I Am Local.

Cofounders Sanjay G., CTO and Ashesh P., CEO have created the site iamlocal.io, an 'Amazon-like' platform of its type that has not previously existed. It gives consumers a true alternative to other large online platforms and big brand sites such as Amazon, Target, Walmart, etc. with the benefit of getting their ordered items immediately via in-store pickup or on-demand same-day delivery.

The launch has begun with several enthusiastic Oakland & Berkeley merchants who are currently selling on iamlocal.io. After doing their initial market analysis by speaking with many local merchant stores as well as the local consumers to see if there was a true need and interest, they set out to build this one-of-a-kind platform to address those needs.  With increasing rents and consumers going online for many of their purchases, the local merchants find it hard to survive and compete on their own.

The founders found that our local retail stores carry unique, exclusive and high quality items that most consumers are not aware of.  These items will never be found on Amazon. In fact, store owners sign agreements with many of their suppliers that they would never put their products on Amazon.

Local residents in Oakland and beyond want to see their neighborhood stores and communities thrive, but convenience is always a factor when making purchases especially when days are long and schedules are tight.
