A Case for Climate & Sex Intersecting the climate crisis with reproductive health, choice & justice

OAKLAND, Calif. - Oct. 10, 2019 - PRLog -- The day will be broad ranging, open-ended and  titillating! Touching on: feminism, the global affects of the current climate disaster, family planning, climate policies and solutions, gender reconciliation, reproductive justice, sex education, woman empowerment, equity, environmental justice, spiritual activism, sustainability, population, health, resilience and survival!  These questions will be addressed- How is the climate crisis affecting the capability of a woman to choose whether she wants or can have children? How does her decision help counter the destruction of our Earth, ourselves and our kin- all creation? How can the reproductive rights of the people most vulnerable to climate effects be guaranteed?

And there will be an art installation, music, and Allies tables with educational handouts as well as fun activities such as a raffle for local goods and lunchtime trivia on environmental and reproductive issues. The cost is $5 for students, $10 general admission, $15 at the door, lunch is available for purchase. A Case for Climate and Sex takes place simultaneously with The Global Turn On (https://www.globalturnon.com/feminine-leadership), a global summit of female community leaders, led by Leahrose Farber.

Symposium speakers include Dr Ndola Prata, Director and Chair, Bixby Center for Population, Health and Sustainability; Steve Schaefer and 13 year old Nikki Donovan from Climate Reality; Molly Arthur,  EcoBirth-Women for Earth and Birth; Dr. Alka Arora, PhD, California Institute of Integral Studies, Associate Professor-  Women's  Spirituality, Philosophy and Religion Department, School of Consciousness and Transformation; clinical sexologist Francesca Gentille; and Alan Gamage Queer and Climate Activist. Local artists will share their work, created for and inspired by the symposium. Artists include Julie Smiley, Alysia Love, Belinda Chlouber and the organizer's brother Ian Paratore.
