Grace Lutheran Church Hosts Benefit Events to Restore Historic Pipe Organ

A multi-phased fundraising effort is underway to restore the 2,611-pipe historic liturgical pipe organ installed in 1930 at Grace Lutheran Church in San Diego's Hillcrest neighborhood.

SAN DIEGO - Oct. 8, 2019 - PRLog -- Grace Lutheran Church, a 107-year-old designated landmark on San Diego's Historic Resource Register, has launched a fundraising effort to fully restore its historic 2,611-pipe organ. November events in Phase I include a benefit concert and a gala dinner with silent auction. Both events are at 3967 Park Boulevard in Hillcrest. The November 1 benefit concert features world-renowned and San Diego Civic Organist Rául Prieto Ramirez.  Admission is free but tax-deductible donations are gratefully accepted with all proceeds going toward the restoration project. The event includes a pre-concert reception in the courtyard at 6:30 p.m. The concert in the sanctuary begins at 7 p.m. and will be followed by a post-concert opportunity to meet the artist. Seating is limited.

The festive gala dinner and auction with jazz entertainment is slated for November 16, from 6 to 10 pm at 3967 Park Boulevard. Individual tickets and partnership packages may be reserved online at gracesandiego.com/events. A portion of the ticket price is tax-deductible.

About Grace Lutheran

Grace Lutheran Church, a member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, was established in 1912 as a parish church for the Hillcrest neighborhood. It is the oldest LCMS church in San Diego, and the first, English-speaking Lutheran Church west of the Mississippi. The current structure was constructed in 1930 and won the 1933 AIA award for church architecture. In 1990, the church, parsonage and Sunday school buildings were designated as a historic landmark on San Diego's Historic Resource Register.
