Modern Warrior Live Performance to Deliver Powerful Message About Mental Health

Non profit organization The Kim Foundation presents event as part of ongoing mental health and suicide prevention programming.
OMAHA, Neb. - Oct. 4, 2019 - PRLog -- The Kim Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to mental health awareness and suicide prevention, will bring "Modern Warrior LIVE: The Story & Sound of a Combat Veteran's Journey" to Omaha for a public performance Tuesday, November 1, 2019 at 7 p.m., Holland Performing Arts Center. Tickets for the one night only event are $50.00.

"Modern Warrior LIVE" is narrated by Staff Sergeant Jaymes Polling, who spent three years in Afghanistan as an infantryman with the 82nd Airborne Division. This autobiographical and immersive production details his time in the military and transition to civilian life back home. Complemented by dynamic musical performances led by trumpeter Dominick Farinacci, Modern Warrior Live heightens awareness of the psychological weight of war, challenges faced after war, and potential for positive growth.

The performance is the featured event of The Kim Foundation's annual "A Time for Hope and Healing". Now in its seventh year, "A Time for Hope and Healing" raises awareness, educates the community, and inspires change in how we approach and respond to mental illness. Previous events have featured keynote speakers in a luncheon format. Modern Warrior LIVE represents a greater emphasis on engaging the general public.

Proceeds will help to support The Kim Foundation's programs and initiatives surrounding mental health and suicide prevention.

Julia Hebenstreit, Executive Director of The Kim Foundation, hopes the greater Omaha community will embrace the performance, due to the impactful and important message that not only speaks to those with military service, but extends beyond. "When we first saw Modern Warrior Live in Washington, D.C., we knew we had to bring the group to Omaha in order to expose a wide audience to their powerful performance and a true story. The message of post traumatic growth will resonate far beyond those who have served in the military. It's for anyone who has experienced a traumatic event, advocates for someone who has, or simply appreciates a theatrical performance that's poignant and moving."

She adds, "We're looking forward to bringing the community together to create greater conversation and further break down the stigma that surrounds mental illness."
