National Disability Employment Awareness Month Means Accessibility & Inclusion for Job Seekers

ABILITY Job Fair invites PWDS to meet recruiters from Aetna & American Express and more

ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. - Oct. 3, 2019 - PRLog -- From tech giant Google to the US Secret Service, top employers are choosing accessible technology and showing their commitment to hiring job seekers with disabilities. American Express, Glacier Bancorp, Aetna, Paul Hastings and Avnet are also pledging their commitment and will join the ABILITYJobFair on October 10th, celebrating National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM).

During a recent National Press Club event, speakers including Senator Tom Harkin, Vint Cerf, John Williams and Chet Cooper, the co-founder of ABILITY Corps, spoke of US economic growth when embracing assistive-technology and workforce inclusion of 11 million PWDs (people with disabilities) currently unemployed. According to the Accenture report, companies leading the way with inclusive workplaces achieved on average 28 percent higher revenue, double the net income and 30 percent higher economic profit margins over the four-year period analyzed. This report found that the GDP could receive a net gain of $25 billion when only one percent of this population joins the  workforce. ABILITY Corps' ABILITYJobFair.org (https://ablityjobfair.org) is a new bridge to this achievement.

"I think more and more recruiters have become aware that there is talent out there, but until now they haven't had a platform for easy access to meet a large number of candidates face to face," says Marge Plasmier, IT manager of ABILITYJobFair.org.

Plasmier continues: "While many recruiters have used job boards like abilityJOBS.com, they wanted an additional level of connection. This system offers a human connection that many employers were looking for, including sign language interpreters. Our alliance with abilityJOBS (https://abilityJOBS.com) and ABILITY Magazine helps reach PWDs."

The next job fair will take place online on October 10th, 2019 at 10 AM PST/1 PM EST and will run for two hours. Job seekers may register up to the day of the career fair. For more information and to register go to ABILITYJobFair.org.
