Back By Demand, Theo Fitzgerald Productions Present Playbill "Mama's Kitchen"

LOS ANGELES - Oct. 1, 2019 - PRLog -- It began way back with the late Shelley Garrett's phenomenal hit tour play "Beauty Shop".  Producer Theo Fitzgerald started out writing screenplays and sitcoms for spec but couldn't sell anything.  It's the old Catch 22.  No one wants to take a chance on a new writer but if no one takes a chance how can you get a break?  Fitzgerald decided to adapt and write for the stage under the direction of Garrett (whom set the tone for urban theatre).

Today, Theo Fitzgerald created Theo Fitzgerald Productions and debuted his first play "Mama's Kitchen" which was the talk of the town.  Due to high demand from accolades of the play, Fitzgerald is bringing the play back for a second run.  This time, instead of one show, guests will have 5 shows to attend.

Mama's Kitchen" is a high-spirited comedy. Sisters, Dara and Louise, struggle to reconcile past hurts when estranged sister Maxine blows into town after the death of their Mama. The sisters must all come together to bury mama, and old wounds, all while why trying to save mama's legacy and Mama's Kitchen!

Do they bury the hatchet or do old grudges destroy the host?  Come along for the ride!

"Mama's Kitchen" stars rising talents Denis Lyles-Cook "The Oracle" (Mama), Carol Massenburg (Louise), Deborah Rose Blanchette (Dara), Aaron D. King (Raymond), Rose Daniel Littlefield (Billie Jean), Christopher Richards (LC), Rodney J. Richards (Mr. Brown), Tandy Ward (Reverend Talbert), Sophia Flot-Warner (Velois), Marwan Granville (Mr. Cole / Associate Producer), Angela Devette (Maxine), and Sheila K. Sing (Sister Gibbs).

""Mama's Kitchen" really comes out of the dispensing of wisdom and advice through the use of African American idioms and sayings that I would hear my grandmothers and aunts and uncles their friends discussing around the kitchen table or on the front porch.  I didn't understand most of it at the time but as I've matured I have been able to articulate, understand, and now pay homage to in my creative work!" states Fitzgerald.

"Mama's Kitchen" takes place at West Angeles Performing Arts Theatre located at 3020 Crenshaw Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90016:
Fri, Nov. 1 / 8pm
Sat, Nov. 2 / 2pm & 8pm
