LAUSANNE, Switzerland - Oct. 1, 2019 - PRLog -- The invention world will receive a boost as multinational CIPOs, CTOs and thought leaders in artificial intelligence and innovation come together to explore how machine learning (ML) techniques can augment traditional invention processes. At this year's Data-driven Invention Forum hosted by Iprova, a pioneer in the field, the focus will be on how the adoption of machine learning techniques makes the invention process more agile, expedient and disruptive. Industry in general stands to benefit as this event acts as a catalyst for the strengthening and further adoption of ML-augmented invention.

The event, sponsored by Swiss Risk & Care, will feature renowned thinkers on the topics of innovation and AI, with speakers from industry and academia sharing their insights on how to increase the efficacy of invention.

Highlights:
• IMD Professor of Innovation Management, Bill Fischer, discussing the use of an 'outside-in approach' towards data-driven innovation to increase the strategic nature of invention
• Technology entrepreneur Sir Hossein Yassaie discussing how to improve the odds of 'winning big' through disruptive invention
• OpenAI's Christine Payne combining her expertise in both artificial intelligence and musical excellence as she talks about the convergence of AI techniques and creativity. She is the author of MuseNet, a deep neural network that can generate 4-minute musical compositions. Machine learning and business expert, Libby Kinsey, will join her as moderator
• A panel discussion on the future of data-driven invention, moderated by Ruud Peters, formerly CIPO and EVP of Philips, with speakers representing FMCG, healthcare and consumer electronics businesses
• 'The Invention Journey' – an interactive workshop in which decision makers from leading multinationals can experience for themselves the practical application of ML to the invention process

This summit is timely, as corporations worldwide seek to optimise the value of their internal IP programmes and focus on developing products and services that deliver greater commercial value. Insights and connections made at the event, and hands on interaction with data-driven invention, are expected to inspire organisations across industry to adopt this approach to their own development efforts.

Iprova CEO Julian Nolan commented, "AI is impacting business in ways we never imagined before. Every day, Iprova uses its data-driven approach to invent faster and more disruptively than has been previously possible. This results in foundational inventions around key points of future convergence, and which are additive and complementary to our customers' own development processes, resulting in a greater diversity of products and services".

This year's Data-driven Invention Forum validates the surging interest in this approach and represents the beginning of a new paradigm in the invention process.
