-- Rod Wilson recently won the Josie Music Award for Entertainer Of The Year in the Jazz, Blues, Soul Category. The red carpet event was held before a sold out crowd at the Celebrity Theatre at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, TN. The Josie Music Awards is the largest independent music awards show in the world.
Wilson explains that this came as quite a surprise, "I never dreamed I had a chance to win this one." Wilson, who goes by the stage name, "Lightnin Rod Wilson" with his band The Thunderbolts also won the 2018 Josie Award for Group of the Year in the Blues/Jazz category. This year's award is an individual award.
Rod also joined in the prior evening at the awards pre- party held at Ole Red's(owned by country star Blake Shelton), in Gatlinburg.
At the awards he was interviewed by three television broadcasts and did a photo with the cast of "Lizard Lick Towing" stars, a reality cable TV show. He has had a busy year, performing at festivals throughout the summer months & earlier in the year he signed with A.M. I. Jukeboxes to have 23 of his songs placed in digital jukeboxes throughout the country. He has also been recording a new album to be released after the first of the year.
