Governor Appoints IT Services & Security Expert Jagdish Katyal To Criminal Justice Services Board
Jagdish, a 20-year veteran of the tech industry, is the CEO and founder of JagKumar, an IT and electronic security company based in Arlington. "I look forward to working for the people of the Commonwealth of Virginia in this new capacity," said Jagdish. In his new role, Jagdish and his fellow board members will work directly with members of the legislature to determine the positive and negative ramifications – in advance – of proposed changes to laws.
The Criminal Justice Services Board is the policy board of the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services. The board is the approving authority for the department's regulations and approves most of the grants awarded by the department to localities, government agencies, and nonprofits. Jagdish, a representative of the private security industry, joins elected officials from Virginia's General Assembly, police officers, attorneys, and more on the board.
Jagdish will continue to serve on the Private Security Services Advisory Board of Virginia as the electronic security business representative. He was appointed to join the PSSAB in December 2016 and is currently acting chairman of the board. The PSSAB advises the Criminal Justice Services Board of Virginia on matters related to the regulation of private security businesses.
"It's an honor to serve on our Private Security Services Advisory Board," said Jagdish. "The PSSAB enables us to provide input and recommendations to the Criminal Justice Services Board from across all types of private security firms – electronic security, personal protection, bail bondsmen, bail enforcement agents, and more – to ensure that certification and code enforcement works well both for consumers and for companies. We work hard to be proactive so that Virginia continues to be recognized as a leader in the U.S. security sector."
