"Music Dreams…An American Story" Profile of Louisiana Blues Musician Henry Turner, Jr

BATON ROUGE, La. - Sept. 24, 2019 - PRLog -- "Music Dreams…An American Story," a profile of Louisiana blues musician Henry Turner, Jr., is now available on Amazon Prime. The half-hour documentary focuses on his life and the evolution of his band, Henry Turner, Jr. & Flavor. The film includes musical performances, interviews with family, band members and musicians, club owners, filmmakers and national and regional entertainment executives.

An official release party and screening, followed by a Q&A and musical performance, will be held October 17 at Henry Turner, Jr.'s Listening Room and Heritage Museum beginning at 8pm. The venue is located at 2733 North Street, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70802. Admission is $10.00 and includes a soul food side dish.

"Music Dreams…An American Story" explores the beginnings of Turner's musical journey. His upbringing in Baton Rouge, his first success with the Top 40 band, Crystal, touring with the Bob Marley Festivals, and his advice on the music business. Over the past forty years Henry Turner, Jr. has developed a syncopated style of music that is referred to as Louisiana blues, soul, funk and reggae. He is also well-known for mentoring new talent and for his work with various philanthropic organizations and foundations around the country. Some of the songs included in the film are the ballads "Long As I Live" and "Louisiana," as well as the blues tunes "Alright, Okay" and "That's My Saints." The latter is currently available for download on the website.

The documentary is produced by Mustang Films and Hit City Digital TV. "Music Dreams…An American Story" will have its Southwest debut at the Jerome Indie Film and Music Festival in Arizona, screening on Sunday, September 29. Additional screenings included the West Baton Rouge Museum, the New Orleans Jazz Museum during the 27th Annual Cutting Edge Conference and Events as part of their Music in Movies program, and the East Baton Rouge Parish Library.
