ST. LOUIS - Sept. 23, 2019 - PRLog -- Operation Food Search (OFS), a non-profit hunger relief organization, was recently approved to receive Missouri tax credits through the Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP).  The agency—which was awarded the amount of $250,000 in 50% tax credits from now through the end of June, 2020—was one of fewer than 30 organizations to receive a portion of the $6.7 million from the Missouri Department of Economic Development.

NAP tax credits are given to nonprofits across the state of Missouri to assist with community development projects.  Donors can contribute anything from cash and equipment to professional services and real estate.  Credits will equal up to 50 percent of the total amount contributed or up to 70 percent for projects located in the most rural areas.

"Workforce development is a top priority of our Governor," said Missouri Department of Economic Development Deputy Director Luke Holtschneider.  "This program supports that initiative via strengthening Missouri's communities by helping non-profit organizations raise private-sector funds.  This is done by providing state tax credits to businesses that make contributions to approved community improvement projects."

"These NAP credits will allow our organization to appeal to a widespread audience of businesses and individuals with businesses," said OFS's Executive Director Kristen Wild.  "By expanding our reach, we believe we will gain additional support for our programs and services to better serve our community."

Founded in 1981, Operation Food Search (OFS) is a hunger relief organization that provides food and nutrition education.  With a strategic focus aimed at ending childhood hunger, OFS empowers families with a range of programs and services proven to reduce food insecurity and increase access to healthy and affordable food.  The agency helps feed more than 200,000 individuals on a monthly basis – one-third of which are children – through a network of 330 community partners in 31 Missouri and Illinois counties.   Operation Food Search is located at 1644 Lotsie Blvd.  For more information, call (314) 726-5355 or visit http://www.OperationFoodSearch.org.
