Southern Ocean Chamber holds Non Profit Forum Volunteer Symposium November 26

Non Profit groups are invited to join the regional chamber, Stockton University, AARP and Ocean County Culture and Heritage Commission for a morning of volunteer best practices, networking and refreshments.

SHIP BOTTOM, N.J. - Sept. 20, 2019 - PRLog -- The Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce Non Profit Forum will present a Non Profit Volunteer Symposium on November 26 at 10 AM in Manahawkin Campus of Stockton University. For almost a decade, the regional chamber has been providing free non profit forums several times a year which bring together volunteer and staffed nonprofits to share ideas, calendars, and have generated collaborations that still continue. This fall, there will be a highlighted focus on understanding and sustaining much needed volunteers to advance the mission of our local groups. In partnership with Ocean County Culture & Heritage, AARP, and Stockton University this symposium will feature keynote speakers, presentation, networking and refreshments.

Christine Newman, Director of Community Outreach and Volunteer Engagement of AARP NJ Engaging the 50+ Volunteer with Promising Practices for Sustainability. The presentation will focus on the best practices in terms of volunteer engagement, onboarding, and recruiting that apply at any age. Participants will explore what people are looking for out of a volunteer experience. Stockton University's Director of Service Learning Dr Daniel Tome and  Senor Coordinator of Service Learning Mrs. Erin O'Halon-Keys will share how to reach out to students for a variety of services and skills.

The event begins with check in at 10am and will be located at Stockton University 712 E Bay Avenue Manahawkin, NJ. There is no cost to attend, but Southern Ocean Chamber members get priority registration. As always, Ocean County Culture & Heritage Commission will offer credit for recipients of the county art or history grants to be applied towards grant compliance. There is no fee for any member or nonprofit to attend, but RSVP is requested to the Southern Ocean Chamber office at 609.494.7211, email to or by stopping into their visitor center at 265 W.
