Southern Ocean Chamber launches new Now Serving Program at Chowderfest Oct 6

SHIP BOTTOM, N.J. - Sept. 20, 2019 - PRLog -- The Southern Ocean County Chamber has plenty to roll out this fall, including a sneak peak at their latest program which was created to showcase their culinary establishment members starting up in 2020. A unique blend of networking, consumer outreach and informative demos, "Now Serving" allows the presenter to choose the topic bringing both the business and consumer together to sample and learn. To introduce this concept to the public and to members, it will launch during Oct 6 Chowderfest Weekend cook off with Executive Chef Robert LaBoy and John Quinn, manager of Food & Nutrition at Southern Ocean Medical Center.

The Now Serving Demos will feature the hospital's new teaching kitchen, a portable unit for the chef to go into the community demonstrating healthy and diet restricted recipes to all ages. There will be two sessions of the cooking demos held on the festival grounds at 12:30 and 2:30pm. They will sharing cooking tips and the recipe for their 'Man-Hackensack Meridian Chowder' recipe  and offering small samples for those taking part in the demo. These samples will not be full size chowder tasting, and will not be a contestant so not eligible for vote. The Hackensack Meridian Health volunteers will be manning the tent throughout the day from 11am to 4pm distributing literature with giveaways from Southern Ocean Medical Center and Health Village Imaging.

Chowderfest weekend takes place at Taylor Avenue Ballfield in Beach Haven and begins on Oct 5 with free Merchant Mart filled with vendors, live music, beer and cider on tap, and entertainment.
