The Village Trip festival returns for a four-day celebration of Greenwich Village with its worldwide influence on music, theater, visual art, literature and poetry, genre bending performance, and social activism. The Village is where there has always been music in the cafés at night, revolution in the air; where being "different" has always been something to celebrate. For the four festival days, September 26 – 29, the Village will be en fête, with bars, cafés and local stores offering special deals to Village Trippers.

Saturday, September 28 from 4pm to 7pm will be a free afternoon concert at Garibaldi Plaza in Washington Square Park - Bringing It All Back Home to Washington Square - featuring three-time Grammy® winner Steve Earle, renowned guitarist/composer Marc Ribot, and The Tall Pines with special guests Tammy Faye Starlite and Mary Lee Kortes.

Saturday, September 28
at 1pm at St. John's in the Village, stars of the classical world come together to play the Greenwich Village-inspired chamber music of David Amram, The Village Trip Artist Emeritus. 85-year-old David Amram is a one-of-a-kind genre-bending virtuoso musician and composer. He was hand-picked by Leonard Bernstein as the New York Philharmonic's first composer-in-residence in the late 1950s, received his first Oscar® nomination for his original score for the film The Manchurian Candidate, and through his deep friendship with Beat legends Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac, became a
fixture in that scene for decades.

Mr. Amram said, "Every city in the USA could use The Village Trip as a model for how to restore their own neighborhood pride, create family-friendly events and opportunities for artists of all genres to celebrate the glorious days of September and be of help to all remaining local businesses who can be helped by the crowds of people who come to attend! That spirit of creativity and congeniality that has been the hallmark of Greenwich Village is now celebrated by The Village Trip!"

Additional events are detailed on the festival website.
