Exciting App Development Internship for Local Students

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Sept. 17, 2019 - PRLog -- Altair Integrated Services, an IT provider of innovative consulting services and top-tier talent delivery for insurance and financial services industries completed an exciting new internship program to teach students how to develop apps.

The eight-week summer program allowed six high school graduates from Central Catholic in Allentown and a LeHigh intern to be involved in the modern application development lifecycle, giving them real-world experience as a member of a software development team. Students learned how to create a cloud-computing environment using Microsoft Azure and model data with a relational database in Azure SQL Database. In addition, they gained an understanding on how to build a Python-based web application and deployed it to Azure app services. They were able to display a SQL database in the web browser with Python, build a web app with form validation for CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) operations, test and debug the app to make it responsive, and finally deploy it to the cloud. Business partners met with the team to discuss the business requirements and give feedback on the app. Interns were also introduced to Microsoft Power BI—a reliable business analytics service that provides the tools needed for analyzing and sharing data—where they generated and published a report from the app database.
