New husband and wife start-up launch the first low-carb almond flour pasta
A new guilt-free, low-carb pasta made from almond flour. And it tastes good too!
Almond Love With...™ is a low-carb, keto-friendly, high-protein pasta made primarily from California almonds. At 3 net carbs per serving, it has 90% fewer carbs than traditional pasta and 80% fewer carbs than most legume pasta. It is also high in fiber, iron, and has 20 grams of protein per 2oz serving. That's 2.5 times the amount of protein in traditional pasta.
Husband and wife founders Arash Hashemi and Madalina Defta got the idea as they were going through their own weight loss journey. "We both quickly realized how much we missed eating pasta. I've lost more than 100 pounds overall but I always felt pasta was off the table … so one Friday night we rolled up our sleeves and got to work in our home kitchen," says Hashemi. "Our goal – creating a pasta that was low in carbs yet tasted good and was good for you."
The couple spent the next 3 months testing various ingredients, formulations, and pasta shapes at their home in Ohio. "We started by experimenting with just about every star ingredient we could think of, but in the end, Almonds gave us the best nutrition, flavor, and pasta-like consistency,"
Almond Love With is made primarily from California Almonds and has other nutritious ingredients including pea protein and egg whites. "Consumers are demanding more nutritious versions of their favorite foods ... we're starting by making that happen for pasta and expanding from there in 2020," says Hashemi.
