PRLog -- Children's author, Rich Bergman, has released his first chapter book for ages 9-13,
Ricardo's Extraordinary Journey: A Boy's Mystical Quest for Fame, Fortune and Adventure (ISBN 978-0-9903352-
2-1). The historical fiction book is based on stories he told his grandchildren over the years. The value of family is a foundation in Rich's life and he passes the importance of this on to his children and grandchildren in his storytelling.
The stories are filled with the adventures of a Spanish teenage boy, Ricardo, in the 1300s as he travels the world in search of knowledge, fame and fortune. Along the way, Ricardo meets the Sultan of Delhi, the Emperor of China and the Pope. He fights kidnappers in the Sahara, helps better the lives of the "untouchables"
in India and learns how to use herbs and acupuncture to heal in China.
As the quest unfolds and Ricardo's journey takes him to places such as Timbuktu, Jerusalem, Septagram, Dadu and other locales along the Silk Road, he displays great compassion for others, learns new customs, finds exquisite foods, observes both the good and bad in people, and discovers his Jewish roots. Ricardo grows in wisdom beyond his years.
All ages will find the story fast paced and enjoyable.
Ricardo's Extraordinary Journey includes beautiful illustrations by students at
Ringling School of Art and Design and closes with appendices that list the traveled locales, the origins of foods, Hebrew and Yiddish terms and more. This book is the perfect book for a school project or report and your children will enjoy the adventure while learning new things. It makes a wonderful gift for Hanukkah or Christmas and is available in both print and eBook formats on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and other online booksellers.
Any profits from the book will be donated to children's charities.
