Frogtown Storytelling Guild Presents Tellabration! 2019 Featuring Guest Storyteller, Janel Behm

TOLEDO, Ohio - Sept. 7, 2019 - PRLog -- On November 1, 2019, the Frogtown Storytelling Guild will celebrate its 19th year of Tellabration!—a spoken-word concert of "stories for grown-ups"—with guest storyteller Janel Behm. The Frogtown Storytelling Guild is pleased to welcome Ms. Behm for this special evening. The concert will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Maumee Indoor Theater, 601 Conant St, Maumee, OH 43537. Tickets are $10.00 each and available at the door.

Janel Behm is a graduate of Ohio State University (Columbus, OH) and has a bachelor's degree in allied health. For 23 years, she worked as a physical therapist. Although born and raised in Northwest Ohio, Ms. Behm currently calls the Gulf Coast of Florida home, where she creates community around a campfire through her passion for the ukulele and her gift of storytelling. She is a member of the Tamiami Tale Tellers (Ft. Meyers, FL), the Florida Storytelling Association (Mount Dora, FL), and  the National Storytelling Network (Kansas City, MO). Ms. Behm is from a large family of storytellers who, as she describes, "tell each other stories we've all heard before and then we tell each other how we tweak the stories and shape them for greater effect. Some might call that exaggeration; we call it oral art."

She has been involved in community theater for more than 40 years. Her life-long love of music led her to play piano as a child, baritone horn as a teen in the high school band, and acoustic guitar as an adult in college. Nearly one decade ago, she taught herself to play the ukulele and fell in love with the instrument. She has honed her ukulele skills as a member of the Suncoast Sand Fleas Ukulele Club, which gives live weekly performances on Nokomis Beach in Florida.

She draws upon her love of theater, music, and nature to create a unique story experience for her audience. Ms. Behm specializes in ancient allegories from original cultures. "These stories are thousands of years old," she explains, "but I love how they show us that the heart of humanity is unchanged."

The sponsor of Toledo's Tellabration! 2019 is the Frogtown Storytelling Guild. Sharing the spotlight with Ms. Behm will be the talented members of the Frogtown Storytelling Guild, which consists of Glenda Garrison, Marion Hallauer, Tari Miller, Regina Patrick, and Ken Solo. The stories of the Frogtown Storytelling Guild members span the oral tradition: folktales, wisdom tales, legends, romantic sagas, humorous accounts, and personal narratives that explore the richness of the human condition.
