ARLINGTON, Texas - Sept. 3, 2019 - PRLog -- Mansfield Independent School District's six high schools and administration have reaped $500,000 from the Texas Trust Credit Union Spirit Debit Reward program since the program began in 2011.

Each MISD high school and the administration has a custom-designed debit card. Cardholders earn cash for their designated school with every eligible debit card purchase. Cardholders help the schools benefit by using their card for everyday purchases such as gas, groceries, restaurants, entertainment, travel, and more.

Among individual schools, Mansfield High School has received the most, at $125,013, followed by Timberview High School with $94,844 and the administration with $68,149. Schools receive a check each month based on the previous month's card usage.

The schools are free to spend the money as they wish. In 2019, Mansfield High School used its Spirit Debit funds for building beautification projects, purchase of new graphing calculators, and new books for English classrooms, and other books for independent reading.

At Summit High School, which has earned $57,573 since the program's inception, money has been used to develop a student voting system for student council and class officers, beautification improvements for the teacher's lounges, professional development training, and senior recognition events.

At Legacy High School, Spirit Debit Rewards, allowed the school to provide fan buses to transport students to each football playoff game last year.

"We deeply appreciate and value what Texas Trust has done and continues to do to support the students and faculty of our district," said Dr. Jim Vaszauskas, Superintendent of Mansfield ISD. "Texas Trust generously gives to our schools, allowing us to enrich the high school experience for our students."

The $500,000 Spirit Debit Card milestone was recognized by MISD's Board of Trustees and the Superintendent at the monthly business meeting August 27. Jim Minge, President and CEO for Texas Trust, was in attendance at the meeting.
