Celebrating With Stilettos & Champagne For A Cause

HOUSTON - Sept. 2, 2019 - PRLog -- On Saturday, September 28, 2019, This Woman's Work, a non-profit 501(c)(3), will hold their 4^th Annual Stilettos & Champagne Fundraising Reception at the Hobby Center.

The annual reception benefits girls from low income families who have aspirations to attend college by raising money for scholarships as well as, mentoring programs, book clubs, girl's summit, prom dress drives, an annual ladies' luncheon and many other services offered through the nonprofit to the community at little to no cost!

"This shoe gala raises essential funds for scholarships, our girls' summit and our mentoring program," stated Carla Lane, Founder of This Woman's Work and President/CEO Lane Staffing. "In the last 4 years we have awarded 30K in scholarships and mentored over 100 girls."

Every second Saturday, mentors of This Woman's Work meet with the girls in the program to take them on outings, meet with their college readiness coach, provide encouragement, advice and a licensed therapist when necessary.

"I'm excited to share that our most recent graduates are all attending four-year universities and were each awarded scholarships," stated Lane. "Through our programs such as Stepping Into Strength (SIS) Mentoring Program, Carla's Closet, and IronWomen, This Woman's Work is dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls in and throughout the Houston community."

During the reception, Lane will honor individuals making a difference in the lives of women and girls throughout the Houston region by presenting them with what has now become the coveted IronWoman Award!

"It is important to honor the people who are working tirelessly to help women and girls succeed in a society that often views them as second-class citizens," said Lane. "This award recognizes their efforts and encourages them to keep pushing forward.
