Classical Crossover stars join forces to support Wrexham community radio station

WREXHAM, Wales - Aug. 28, 2019 - PRLog -- A concert is being held to raise funds to enable Wrexham-based community radio station Calon FM to continue broadcasting. The concert will be taking place on Saturday 19 October 2019 at The Stiwt Theatre, Rhosllanerchrugog starting at 7pm.

The not-for-profit station is currently run by a team of volunteers who broadcast 24/7 to provide a range of shows featuring community news, arts, business, specialist music and live sports coverage. The radio station used to receive financial support to enable it to run but this was cut in 2018. Funds are now needed to cover all licensing costs and to enable Calon FM to remain on air.

The fundraising evening has been arranged by Calon FM's Sunday Classical Crossover show presenter Jannie Rawlinson. Jannie has been presenting the show for four years during which time it has gained a global audience, many of whom get in touch during the show via Twitter to make requests and to chat with Jannie and her guests. The concert will feature nine classical crossover artists who are all donating their time to show their appreciation for the long-standing support and exposure Jannie's show has given them. Amongst the artists performing on the night will be Lucy Thomas, Keedie Green and Hercules Smith as seen on ITV's "The Voice Kids", BBC One's "The Voice" and BBC One's "Let it Shine" respectively. They will be joined by royal composer Olga Thomas and soprano Elan Catrin Parry, originally from Wrexham, who is now signed to Decca records.  The concert will also feature musical theatre performer Adam Lacey, Natasha Hardy, Beth Ford and Joanna Forest whose debut album went straight to number one on the Official Classical Album Charts.

Jannie comments, "The concert is a wonderful opportunity to see some incredible artists performing live, featuring some sensational classical music which has been combined with a modern twist. There'll be an opportunity to meet and greet the artists after the show too. Everyone at Calon FM is hugely grateful to them for lending their support in this way. It promises to be a fantastic night out and we hope the community will come along to enjoy the evening. Big thanks to our sponsors North Wales Tweets, TadMark Ltd and Lovers of Beautiful Music too whose support has made the concert possible."

Tickets for the concert are available from the Stiwt's Box Office. They can also be ordered online via its website or over the phone on 01978 841300. There are also a number of sponsorship opportunities available; for further details please call Amy Hughes on 01978 293393.
