LOS ANGELES - Aug. 27, 2019 - PRLog -- A new creative outlet for LA writers, directors, actors, and production professionals is launching this Thursday, August 29, 2019 in downtown Los Angeles.

In the past, Some Assembly Required (SAR) produced and presented a mix of live plays and short films in venues tailored for live performance. "We will use our summer premiere at Downtown Independent LA to launch a new solely cinema direction for Some Assembly Required," said Jamen Spitzer, managing director of SAR. "Like the Downtown Independent LA, our 501(c)3 non-profit theatre company also believes in cinema, community, and culture."

SAR is a community-driven arts incubator and production collective on a mission to give diverse writers, directors, and actors a creative challenge. "Our audiences literally dare us to create stories about what they specifically want," said Fred Gooltz, director of development with SAR. "Our creative community steps up, and the results are compelling."

"We are pleased to note that industry executives plan to attend, and believe Downtown Independent LA is the right space to elevate our independent filmmakers' work," said Lauren Cook, co-founder of SAR.

The film premiere includes an impressive line-up of locally created shorts leveraging talent whose work has appeared at Cannes, Sundance, and Tribeca Film festivals.

"Promising creatives shouldn't have to wait for a production deal to get their work out there," said Cook. "This is perfect for everyone from film students to seasoned professionals who want to do something daring. As an audience, it's great to see how people solve the challenge of the dare."

Films feature the talents of John Ross Bowie (The Big Bang Theory, Speechless), Michael Reilly Burke (Vice, Bundy), Sharmila Devar (Scandal), Jessica Joy (ctrl alt delete), Emily Goss (Future Man), Nardeep Khurni (Jane the Virgin), Elizabeth Lippman (New York Times), Katie O'Brien (A.P. Bio), Caitlin Norton, Chris Gross, Kristin Goddard, Jamen Spitzer, Gibson Collins, Fred Gooltz, M. Keegan Uhl, and more.

The premiere is Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. at 251 S. Main Street (90012). Seating is limited. Click here to reserve your tickets now (https://darepremiere.bpt.me/) ($12.50 online; $15.00 at the door).

About
SAR is a community-driven arts incubator on a mission to give diverse writers, directors, technicians, and actors the challenge of creating stories that are rooted in being responsible to our audience. At each premiere, we ask our audience to submit a one-line idea for a story. This kicks off a collaborative creation process. The cycle culminates in a premiere, which we call "Dare Night." And it begins all over again.
