ATLANTA - Aug. 27, 2019 - PRLog -- 'What Is Your Story?' (www.whatisyourstoryexhibit.org), a global social impact project comes to the City of McDonough, GA in fall 2019. The interactive exhibit kicks off with an opening party at Georgian Gallery (10 Macon St, McDonough, GA 30253) on September 14, 2019 from 6:00 – 9:00pm.  The exhibit will also open at Hood Street Art Center (136 Hood St, McDonough, GA 30253) on October 3, 2019, with an opening event from 7:00 – 9:00. 'What Is Your Story?' is being brought to McDonough through a partnership between Georgian Gallery, Hood Street Arts Center and the McDonough Hospitality and Tourism Board.

Designed by Spark Corps and Orange Sparkle Ball, - 'What Is Your Story?' is a touching look at struggles and secrets hidden deep within ourselves and our peers, and how these untold stories connect us more than we realize.  The exhibition was created around the belief that sharing stories can lead to radical empathy, promote deep interpersonal connections and demonstrate that we are more similar than we are different.

There are very few burdens greater than carrying the weight of an untold story. People have trouble finding their voice and sharing their story for fear of being judged. Books are the silent storyteller. - 'What Is Your Story?' is made up of anonymous, handwritten stories displayed in used books—and it gives viewers the opportunity to respond to these stories by sending a supportive message via postcard. This back and forth interaction creates a connection and a feeling of solidarity. The person who initially shared their story receives supportive messages, indicating that their voice was finally heard.

The installation made an appearance at the Toronto Design Offsite Festival in January 2019 and exhibited at the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) from February – June 2019. In addition to the exhibition in the City of McDonough, 'What Is Your Story?' will be seen at a series of pop-up events centered around writing and sharing, partnering with organizations such as Emory University and Greenbuild.

'What Is Your Story?' plans to travel across US cities as well as additional global locations. The mission is to create an impact that unites people in their struggles, putting an end to the isolation that comes with feeling misunderstood.

Those unable to participate in 'What Is Your Story?' in person can interact with the project virtually. To participate, visit our Instagram @what_isyourstory or send an email to stories@sparkcorps.org.

"What Is Your Story?" will share space at the Georgian Gallery with a touching McDonough focused project. Caught in a Moment: From Hello to Goodbye celebrates Horseshoe Farms through work from photographers Mia Broder and Renee Crouser.  This year Mia Broder's family sold their property, Horseshoe Farms. Her photography, in essence, is her goodbye—an attempt to capture the exhale of life of an old friend. Renee Crouser was introduced to the Broder farm through Mia's photography. Her collection is inspired by all the emotions that filled her heart from joy to heartbreak and back to excitement as she discovered the stories behind the farm photos. This duel art show celebrating Horseshoe Farms is a poignant look at how small communities process change. The paring of 'What Is Your Story?' and Caught in a Moment: From Hello to Goodbye will provide a touching opportunity for the community to view and share their own stories.
