Midland, Texas Leads the Country in Job Growth

NEW YORK - Aug. 26, 2019 - PRLog -- AdvisorSmith, a leading information resource for small business owners, published a study today about the cities and states with the fastest rate of employment growth.

The study was based on the following data:

• Rate of job growth over a three year study period (July 2016 - July 2019) in 398 of the largest U.S. cities.

• Employment growth rates in the 50 U.S. states and Washington D.C.

Key Findings

• The #1 city for employment growth was Midland, TX, where the number of jobs grew from 86,300 to 111,300, for a total growth of 29% over the last three years. Employment growth in Midland was driven primarily by the energy industry, augmented by the distribution and logistics industry.

• The leading state for job growth was Utah, which added 139,900 jobs over the study period, for a percentage gain of 9.9%. Some of the primary industries driving the growth in Utah include Leisure and Hospitality, Education, Health Services, and Logistics.

• Nationally, the country added 6.7 million jobs over the three year study period, ending July 2019 with 151 million jobs. Job growth was strongest in states in the West, which accounted for 8 of the top 10 fastest growing states.
