Toomey hails from Australia where she has quickly risen to become a weightlifting champion and CrossFit Games athlete at just 26 years old. She took home the gold in the 58kg women's event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast. She has also competed in - and won - the CrossFit Games in 2017 and 2018. This month, August 2019, she was crowned tri-champion at the CrossFit Games 2019, held in Madison, Wisconsin.
Last week she experienced her first Mexican vacation, where she chose Puerto Vallarta as the destination because of its natural and eco-tourism attractions. On August 17 Toomey offered a private seminar to 25 people at Pike CrossFit, which she called A Day With Tia. This six-hour, intensive training showcased her technical, nutritional, and mental knowledge with respect to her success in training. She has taught similar seminars in England, Belgium, Australia, and Italy, and this was her first in Latin America. She also gave a talk at the Champions Sport Bar at the Marriott Resort Puerto Vallarta, where she shared her experience as an athlete, her achievements, and motivations. It was a prime opportunity for the public to reach out with questions, as visit with the athlete during an autograph signing session.
Toomey is the first woman to be the three-time champion at the CrossFit Games. She has written a book, "How I Became The Fittest Woman On Earth, My Story So Far." It is sponsored by Rogue, Reebok, and Tru Protein. She also is featured in two Netflix documentaries:
It's not surprising that she selected Puerto Vallarta as the destination for her first Mexican vacation as it is a great location to train, practice or learn a new sport.
While in Puerto Vallarta, visitors can choice from an array of active activities to do from running or biking across the Malecon, going hiking or riding a bike on the mountains to playing tennis or a round of golf. Many hotels offer their own activities and the Marriot even has an Olympic size swimming pool.
