Phogust 2 Sound Art at Angels Gate Cultural Center
A Presentation of Bent, broken and appropiated sounds
for the discerning listener
Phogust returns to the Battery at Angels Gate Cultural Center Saturday, August 17th at 5:00 p.m. The event is free.
Phogust presents an array of cutting edge experimental sound practitioners from the greater
Los Angeles area. Instrument Manufacturers, Synthesists and Sonic Explorers will converge
on Angels Gate Cultural Center to revel in the beauty of sound as pure texture.
Circuit Bending is the practice of exposing the circuitry of a sonic device, such as a toy
or a musical instrument, then tampering with that circuit to cause the device to produce
interesting sounds that the designers never intended. Performers assemble a collection of
bent devices and then perform music with them. Appropriated sounds are instruments created from common objects that are re-purposed to perform music.
Phogust2 continues the deep dive into Los Angeles thriving experimental community,
Presenting a diverse group of performers that have ties to the LA scene.
Come early that day for our Family Art Workshop at 3 pm only $5 per family.
Angels Gate Cultural Center is open to the public M-F from 10 am to 4 pm and Saturdays 12 to 5pm. Admission is always free.
