Follow on Google News | Jacksonville Children's Chorus Returns from European North Sea TourThe Jacksonville Children's Chorus (JCC) spent 16 days performing in Ireland, Iceland, Norway, Netherlands, and Belgium.
Though the tour experienced some costly travel delays due to inclement weather and aircraft difficulties (approximately $5000), the chorus was able to pick up with their scheduled kick-off performance in Dublin, Ireland and wrap-up with a final performance in Bruges, Belgium on July 20th before heading back to Jacksonville. The JCC Touring Choir was able to participate in 8 separate performances during the 16-day excursion. The North Sea Tour not only provided the children of Jacksonville Children's Chorus with the opportunity to perform abroad, it also included many cultural and sightseeing adventures like the Titanic Museum in Belfast, the Blue Lagoon in Iceland, the Anne Frank House in the Netherlands, and the Belfry Tower in Belgium. The JCC Touring Choir is comprised of up to 30 advanced level singers annually in grades 6 - 12. Although they are facilitated by the artistic director, the singers research and select music to study and perform and help evaluate performance opportunities.
