openEQUELLA 2019.1 released, features Cloud Provider

The Apereo Foundation today announced the release of openEQUELLA 2019.1, the latest version of the open source platform.
PRINCETON, N.J. - Aug. 1, 2019 - PRLog -- openEQUELLA, a digital repository for housing teaching/learning, research, media, and library content in one platform, is currently in use at a wide range of schools, universities, colleges, TAFEs, departments of education, government agencies, and corporations worldwide.

openEQUELLA 2019.1 represents an important re-positioning of the platform, with the introduction of a Cloud Provider framework that enables the dynamic creation of new services into openEQUELLA.  The addition of Cloud Providers ensures openEQUELLA is more accessible to the open source developer community, decreases time-to-market for new features, and increases the ability to leverage new cloud technologies.

"openEQUELLA 2019.1 delivers an important new framework that will enable the platform to accelerate its innovation," said Ian Dolphin, Executive Director of the Apereo Foundation.  "The introduction of Cloud Provider support helps to reinforce the community nature of open source development."

Highlights of openEQUELLA 2019.1 include:
●      openEQUELLA Cloud Provider components, incorporating the ability to register and authenticate with a Cloud Provider and in turn, access and configure Cloud Provider services and wizard controls
●      Multi-language stemming support
●      Administration Console package: removing the need for client-side Java
●      Login Notice Editor: enabling administrators to create rich text notices on the Login page

Aligned with the release of openEQUELLA 2019.1, Edalex will launch the first Cloud Provider service: ECS AutoTag. ECS AutoTag uses machine learning to analyse images and documents and automatically generates metadata tags, streamlining the contribution process for academics, while also improving categorisation for easy discovery.  More information about ECS AutoTag is available through any of the regional service providers.

Version 2019.1 is available now. For more information about implementing or upgrading to openEQUELLA 2019.1, please navigate here or contact a services provider in your region, including Edalex (Asia Pacific), Unicon (North America), and Next Education Services (EMEA).
